Wrist & Hand Pain

Injuries to the hand and wrist are not uncommon. Like most painful conditions they will likely occur from acute trauma, or a gradual onset due to repetitive overload. Sports or activities that require the wrist to grip and move forcefully, have an increased prevalence for developing these injuries. Occupational workers often present with pain in this region too, most commonly due to a repetitive stress cause. These repetitive stress injuries often are injuries involving the tendons in the hand/wrist.

Fractures are a common injury in this region, which your osteopath will identify and refer for appropriate management. Often fractures in this region require an orthopaedic opinion with splinting or casting, to allow the site to heal. Your osteopath will be able to provide guided rehabilitation and treatment, so you can get back to normal activities as soon as possible. An important component of managing these injuries is rehabilitating the ability to grip. There are multiple techniques of gripping that we all perform in our usual day to day activities. The Reform Lab Osteopathy stands out for being able to provide treatment and rehabilitation inside a fully equipped state of the art gym.
