ABOUT

Who are The Reform Lab Osteopathy?

We are passionate about improving your health, function and performance. Established in early 2023, The Reform Lab Osteopathy has quickly become a reputable location for pain and injury management. We are perfectly located in the amazing suburb of East Brisbane, allowing us to service many Brisbane locals and guests of our amazing city.

Director and osteopath Dr Jackson Redfern established The Reform Lab Osteopathy as he knew healthcare needed to be better at serving the community. Traditionally, allied health has let the community down by focusing on many passive treatments that lack robust evidence of their effectiveness. Jackson wanted this to change as it needs to change! The Reform Lab focuses on empowerment through patient education and reassurance. The services we provide offer flexibility in your management. Having access to Project Reform, a fully equipped state of the art gym facility is one reason why we stand out, and can truly offer you a holistic experience that is supported by evidenced based clinical research.

Jackson graduated from the well respected osteopathic program at Victoria University. After graduating he relocated his life to Brisbane, where he worked for many years in the private practice sector of Brisbane’s south. Throughout this time, he gained invaluable experience and focused heavily on continued learning so he could advance his clinical knowledge.

From the moment you walk in the door at The Reform Lab, Jackson’s calm nature will ensure you feel heard and supported. Jackson is highly qualified in many different injuries and complaints, with a passion for exercise and movement. We primarily treat and manage pain and injuries, whilst looking to optimise long term function. Utilising modern sports science equipment from VALD, we are able to measure and track your progress. Therefore, you can see that the work you are putting in is working.

No more low level care! The Reform Lab Osteopathy provides high level care suited and tailored to your needs.

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of allied health medicine that seeks to optimise the body’s natural healing ability, using a holistic approach to thinking. Osteopaths have expertise in pain/injury diagnosis and management. Osteopaths treat more broadly than the site of pain. They always consider other regions of the body that may be contributing to the pain/injury. This is where an osteopaths holistic thinking takes place. Using movement screening examinations, they identify potential faulty movement patterns that have contributed to the pain/injury occurrence.

They often utilise manual therapy techniques to help assist the body feel its best self. Techniques that are commonly used include; massage, stretching techniques like MET, joint mobilisations, spinal/joint manipulation, dry needling & cupping. Exercise rehabilitation & movement optimisation are fundamental components of osteopathy. The manual therapy techniques above are used to aid your movement quality during your exercise rehabilitation.

MOVEMENT IS MEDICINE

Jackson is an osteopath & qualified strength and conditioning coach who will guide and prescribe exercise rehabilitation for long term improvements, in the hope it reduces the amount of appointments you need long term. Osteo Jackson Redfern has an extensive education in exercise rehabilitation for many kinds of sports injuries and painful conditions.

Our Approach

  1. Your clinical/injury history
This is where you tell your story and why you are seeking osteopathic treatment and management.

  2. Your goals and expectations
We want all individuals who seek treatment to get back to doing what they want to do. We want you to smash your goals and we will help you along the way!

  3. Examination and diagnosis
This is where we investigate how you move and what is causing your concern. From the examination you will be educated on the diagnosis and prognosis.

  4. Treatment and future management plan
We will discuss what treatment we can provide and more importantly listen to what treatment you want or expect. Once informed consent is given we will provide an osteopathic treatment to help modulate your pain and/or improve your injury.
